Crucible Industries’ new CPM-S35VN steel substitutes niobium carbides for some of the vanadium in their popular S30V steel. They estimate this steel to be 15-20% tougher than S30V without any loss of wear resistance–it’s improved toughness gives it better resistance to edge chipping. This steel has gained rapid popularity with both custom knifemakers and the steel aficionados who make up a good chunk of your customers.
